While there may not be a cure for Rosacea, many professionals are successful in managing this condition successfully.

Rosacea is a common and often embarrassing illness. It involves reddening of the face, and sometimes the neck and chest, even the eyes in some cases. Rosacea may or may not be present with acne. Is Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner safe to use?

Many of you have heard or read that”Age Intervention Eyelash” had been seized by the FDA. You may also be aware that she has recently introduced a new product called “Marini Lash”. We wanted to educate the many consumers that have inquired about the reasons for recent changes by the manufacturer, Jan Marini Skin Research.

The controversy surrounding Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash started back in 2005. Jan Marini’s eyelash conditioner was initially released under the name Age Intervention Eyelash. (not eyelash “conditioner”). It was during the release of this product that the FDA were involved. This resulted due to Jan Marini’s eyelash conditioner containing an ingredient that was apparently similar to one found in a drug used for glaucoma called Lumigan, and developed by Allergan.

But, once this controversy arose, Jan Marini responded accordingly to the concerns of the FDA and reformulated in order to remove this particular ingredient. This products had only been on the market a few month and never sold by us online. In addition to the actual ingredient concern, the company was advised that vocabulary on packaging such as “eyelash growth” were considered as making a “drug claim”. Therefore, the new eyelash conditioner was released under the name Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner, and any wording relating to claims of growth or altering of the hair were removed. The product that was “seized” by the FDA in 2008 was the “original” Age Intervention Eyelash and not the “conditioner” that most of you may own or have owned.

The newer product “Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner” was found to be just as effective or even more so at beautifying the lashes. This product overwhelmed the industry with outrageous results and soon to follow were several other manufacturers containing similar active ingredients. Many found Jan Marini to be the pioneer at such amazing eyelash technology.

However, in 2007, Allergan listed several manufacturers of Eyelash Conditioners in a lawsuit as a result of patent infringement. In an effort to focus her extraordinary new products for 2008; Jan suspended sales of the Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner.
Her fans were disappointed and buying it in large quantities in fear of losing the beautiful lashes they had dreamed of!

Customers spoke louder than the FDA and Allergan though and Jan Marini Skin Research responded. In June 2008 Jan Marini eyelash conditioners were re-born with her new product called Marini Lash. This prostaglandin free alternative has quickly proven to produce just as good, if not better results then it’s predecessors!

Since its debut last month, Marini lash has received great reviews; and the Aesthetic staff at The Skin Specialist.com tell us they have a hard time keeping it in stock. This is a great product and you’ll see results just like you have with former Jan Marini eyelash conditioners. Marini Lash is formulated much differently though than the others with a special peptide blend specific to hair growth. We expect this product to be around for a long time.

1. Do they really work? Which is better?
We first were introduced to Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash back in 2005. We were skeptics but in a few weeks AMAZED by our lashes appearance. Jan recently suspended sales of this product due to much controversy but has recently introduced the new “Marini lash”! We expect to post a review after evaluating it for 8 weeks. Revitalash is a top seller as well. It is challenging for us to say which is better due to the exceptional results produced by both manufacturers. Many of our clients will try them at varying intervals and decide after comparing them themselves. Some prefer the consistency of a slightly thicker product (Jan Marini, MD Lash Factor & SD) over the thinner more water-like consistency or Revitalash. It’s all preference. They all “work” or they would not be offered here. It is just preference. Feel free to contact us for more info.

2. Are they safe?
To the best of our knowledge we have not been informed of any safety issues or claims and have sold Revitalash and the Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash Conditioner for 1 -2 years to date. The new Marini Lash and SD Lash and Brow Gel are considered peptide based products which may be “claimed” as more natural but again, we have never received warnings or had concerns in relation to the former formulas or others. As with any cosmetic please use your own discretion. We do not in any way “guarantee” the safety as we are not the manufacturer.

3. Are there side effects?
On “occasion” we will hear reports of slight stinging of the product as they begin to use it. However, we have received only a handful of reports that it was irritating enough to discontinue use. Most find the stinging dissipates after using it for a few days. It is very uncommon to experience any discomfort. 3. I have permanent eyeliner, can I use these products? Yes. Several of our staff and clients that use the products do in fact have permanent eyeliner and it has not affected the eyeliner whatsoever. Permanent eyeliner fades over time so expect any changes as normal and unrelated to these products.

4. How do they work?
We understand the combination of ingredients stimulate the follicle to “reach its maximum potential”. For more information on ingredients feel free to contact the manufacturer or visit our website.

5. How long does a tube last?
This varies depending upon the person and how diligent they are with daily applications. We find some customers have a heavier hand with applications. On average we find ourselves replacing products anywhere from 3 to 5 months. It is ideal to discard most cosmetic products after 6 months in any case, as beyond that the efficacy is reduced due to exposure and you risk contamination

6. Can I wear mascara?
Absolutely, you can wear your makeup as usual. The products are applied in the evening at the “base” of your lashes not interfering with cosmetic use. You may resume your cosmetic applications the very next morning.

7. How do I use it?
Great question! This is essential. Please always follow the instructions that are enclosed with your product. These products are applied at the “base” of the eyelash every night by simply applying it like eyeliner. Use the brush to draw a line at the base of the eyelashes where the skin meets the root of the lash. There is no need to heavily coat the actual lashes, just the base of them. The brow products are best applied direct to the skin at the root of the hair daily.

8. How long before I will see results?
This varies depending upon how diligent you are with applying it. However on average it is anywhere from 3-5 weeks. It varies per individual based upon your natural hair growth cycles.

9. Do I have to use it forever?
Well, as any good thing in life, in order for it to work or continue to work we are afraid the answer is “yes” if you want to continue to see the results. For our clients, they are “lifers” they tell us. However, if you are happy with the results, just simply use it every other day to “maintain” what you have achieved! Yes, you will get more out of the product!

10. What happens if I stop using it, will my lashes fall out?
Lashes as well as scalp hair and brows shed in cycles, so there will always be some shedding, but no, your lashes will simply revert to their “original” state over time. It will be subtle at first considering hair sheds in several phases, but eventually all the new hairs grown while not using the products will no longer continue to reach their maximum potential without the use of the product.

11. Can I use it with Eyelash Extensions?
Absolutely! We actually encourage our Lash Extension clients to use it as the lashes tend to adhere better and stay on longer due to increase in diameter of the lash as well as length. Lash extensions are thick, so many prefer them still but many of our clients have given up Extensions once they experience the benefits of Jan Marini or Revitalash.

12. Does they work for chemotherapy patients?
We do not promote the products for use “during” chemotherapy as it is not likely to work at this time. However, we receive rave reviews from patients that started using after because their lashes/brows did not come back in as thick. They are thrilled to have this option. 13. Do they work in eyebrows or the scalp?
Yes, we were curious and instructed all of our customers to test it in their brows and sure enough it worked to improves sparse eyebrows as well!
