Why You Should Be Weary of Brazilian Blowouts

Women go through a lot of measures to improve hair texture and appearance. What if you are given the opportunity to undergo a treatment that instantly relieves the hair’s major problems such as dryness, split ends, and frizz? The catch is – you don’t know the real things that make up the treatment.

One treatment that’s currently trendy yet controversial is the Brazilian Blowout. In just a short span of time, your hair will possibly come out luxurious looking.  Now, who wouldn’t want this? The process is very simple because the hair is just washed and shampooed. After washing, a keratin-infused formula will be applied. To seal the chemicals, the hair will then be blow dried, flat ironed, washed again, and dried. While there are several steps entailed, how can you resist the treatment when you desire the end result of luxurious locks?

However, in August 2011, the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning notification that companies manufacturing Brazilian Blowout products should stop using the label “formaldehyde-free” because this claim is misleading. Horror stories have surged saying that there are women who experienced eye irritation, nose bleeding, and chest pains after undergoing the supposedly wonderful treatment. This is because Brazilian Blowout is a treatment rumored to have formaldehyde – a chemical used in industrial factories which can pose serious health risks to an individual.  This chemical is also considered potentially toxic and is also in some skincare products and much more.

So you ask, “How come there are lots of women who have the treatment but are ok?” As with anything,  you’ll never know when the side effects will result.  Every practitioner may apply it differently, or in a less ventilated area.  In addition we are all different, some more sensitive to chemicals then others but that doesnt mean the health risks don’t exist just because we don’t feel or see them on the outside.  Remember, it always pays to be on the safe side. One single action may make you regret it for some time, if not forever.  Would you be willing to take the risk?   If you are just looking to condition your hair, add shine to lifeless locks and eliminate frizz then Organic Moroccan Argan Oil is a nice option that is free from synthetic fragrance, dimethicone and chemicals unlike many of the chemical infused Moroccan Argan Oil treatments on the market today.  So use caution there too!

If what you are after is a thicker and fuller hair, you may consider Hair by Revitalash which addresses the needs of both men and women.
Brazilian Blowout is surely an intoxicating treatment but prior to having it, research as best as you can. Find out if the salon is indeed reputable and if it employs safe treatment procedures. Your scalp also deserves care and since it’s a part of the skin!
